Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

At Bayridge Physiotherapy, we are pleased to offer state-of-the-art therapeutic modality called Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy (ESWT) commonly known as Shockwave therapy.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave is non-invasive therapeutic modality which accelerates healing by transmitting a type of sound wave called "acoustic pressure wave" to the injured tissue.

Originally, shockwave was created to breakdown kidney stones without surgery. It has now evolved to treat various body tissues like bone, joint, ligament, tendon and muscle tissue.

How does Shockwave Therapy work?

When the human body is not able to heal itself, it needs external help like shockwave therapy to enhance healing.

Shockwave accelerates healing and regenerates damaged tissue by increasing local blood supply and improving metabolism.

Shockwave machine delivers strong acoustic (sound) energy pulses to the affected tissue for brief period. These pulses stimulate bone and connective tissue healing cells which then accelerate the healing process. As a result most clients who receive shockwave therapy recover faster.

We use Storz Medical's state-of-the-art shockwave machine.
